What is Kahvehane: Batak & Pişti?

Kahvehane: Batak & Pişti is an offline Batak and Pisti card game made by the Revoba studio. It is free to play in the browser, with no download or sign-up. Languages: Turkish, English. It is currently an early build.

Kahvehane: Batak & Pisti is a free HTML5 card game that brings two classic Turkish card games to one page. Pisti is a two-player game played to 101 or 151 points. Batak seats four players; Bidding Batak is the default, and Partnership Batak and Spades Trump (estimation) can be chosen in settings. You always play against computer opponents: there is no online mode, no chat and no account. Once the page has loaded it makes no further network requests, so it works as an offline card game on the bus or on a plane. There are no coins, chips, shop or in-app purchases either; 10 table cloths and 10 card backs are unlocked by playing. Opponents have personalities: Cautious, Bidder, Bluffer and Counter. Low levels follow rules, high levels count cards and sample likely deals, but they never see your hand. The deck is seeded and deterministic: at the end of every hand you see its seed code and can replay the same deal or hand it to a friend. Career mode offers 8 coffeehouses and 40 tables, and the Hand of the Day gives everyone the same deal.

Play Batak and Pisti in your browser, offline, against the computer. Fair deck with seed codes so you can replay any hand. No coins, no account.

How to play Kahvehane: Batak & Pişti

In Pisti each player gets 4 cards and 4 cards go to the table. On your turn play one card; if it matches the rank of the top table card, or if it is a jack, you capture the whole pile. Capturing a single card with the same rank is a pisti worth 10 points, and a jack on a lone jack is worth 20. When the deck is finished the count is made: most cards 3, two of clubs 2, ten of diamonds 3, each ace and jack 1; the first to 101 or 151 points wins. In Batak four players receive 13 cards each and bidding starts at 5; the highest bidder names the trump suit and leads the first trick. You must follow suit, play a trump if you cannot, and play higher when possible; trumps cannot be led until they have been broken. After 13 tricks a player who makes the bid scores the tricks taken, and one who misses loses points equal to the bid. In career mode a Batak match lasts 5 hands.

Tips for Kahvehane: Batak & Pişti

  1. Hold your jacks in Pisti: a jack captures anything, so it earns most when the pile is big or when your opponent has just left a single card; do not spend the ten of diamonds or the two of clubs early either.
  2. Bid to your hand in Batak: a long trump suit and a couple of aces make 6 or 7 safe, while staying at 5 and setting the bidder can score just as well; a missed bid costs the whole bid in points.
  3. Use the hand history: rewind a hand you lost, see which card cost you, then replay the same seed and try a different line; it is the best training against the Counter opponent.

What is a fair deck?

The most common complaint about any card game app is 'the deck is rigged'. Kahvehane answers with a method rather than a promise. Every deal is produced from a seed, and the same seed always produces the same shuffle. When a hand ends, its seed code is shown on screen. Choose 'Replay this hand' and you receive exactly the same cards; give the code to a friend and they play the same hand, which makes it easy to see who played it better.

The other half of the method is the bots. Opponents cannot see your cards; they only count what has been played to the table, like a good coffeehouse player would. At high difficulty they sample likely deals before deciding, but that is an estimate, not hidden information. The deal is never altered during play, so a hand you lost was genuinely played with those cards and can be reviewed in the history. The Hand of the Day rests on the same principle: everyone receives the same cards from the same seed, and only the play differs.

Pisti and Batak scoring guide

In Pisti, points come from two places. The first is bonuses during play: capturing a single card with the same rank is a pisti worth 10 points, and a jack on a lone jack is worth 20. The second is the count when the deck runs out: most cards 3, the two of clubs 2, the ten of diamonds 3, and every ace and jack 1 each. A match goes to 101 or 151 points; career tables use 101.

In Batak everything turns on the bid. After 13 cards are dealt, bidding starts at 5; the highest bidder names the trump suit and leads. You must follow suit, trump when you cannot, and play higher whenever possible; trumps may not be led until broken. At the end, a player who makes the bid scores the tricks taken, while one who falls short loses points equal to the bid. Saying 7 and taking 6 is far more expensive than saying 5 and taking 7. A career match lasts 5 hands and the total decides it.

Can I play Batak and Pisti offline?

Are the opponents real people?

No, they are all computer opponents. There is no online mode, chat or account. Opponents come in four personalities (Cautious, Bidder, Bluffer, Counter) and five difficulty levels.

Can the bots see my cards? Is the deck rigged?

Bots never see your hand; they only count cards played to the table. The deck is seeded and deterministic and the deal is never touched. You can see every hand's seed code and replay it.
