What is Mangala Legend?

Mangala Legend is a Turkish mancala game set in Turkic mythology made by the Revoba studio. It is free to play in the browser, with no download or sign-up. Languages: Turkish, English. It is currently an early build.

Mangala Legend is a browser mancala game built on Mangala, the Turkish variant taught in schools. There is nothing to install and no account to create: the game opens and you play. You never wait for an online opponent, because the board is always staffed by AI rivals with real personalities. The campaign follows Turkic cosmology up the world tree Bay Terek: it begins in the Ötüken Forest of Umay Ana and ends in the Sky Realm of Ülgen and Kayra Han, with 7 realms, 10 rivals each, 70 matches in all. Greedy, defensive, trapper and chainer rivals play differently; the first ones make mistakes, the last ones calculate eight moves ahead. If you are learning how to play mancala, the first match runs in slow motion and the 'Why this move?' button explains the suggested move in one sentence. 100 verified puzzles, a daily charm that is the same for everyone and a two-player mode on one device round it out. No purchases, no loot boxes, and ads never interrupt play.

Play mancala in your browser, offline and without login. 7 mythic realms, 70 rivals, 100 puzzles, a daily charm and 'why this move?' hints.

How to play Mangala Legend

Each player has 6 pits and a store on the right, with 4 stones in every pit at the start. On your turn pick one of your pits with stones: the first stone stays in that pit, the rest are sown counter-clockwise one by one, skipping the rival store. A single stone simply moves to the next pit. If the last stone lands in your store you play again. If the last stone lands in a rival pit and makes the count even, you capture all of those stones. If it lands in your own empty pit and the opposite rival pit has stones, you take both pits. When one side is empty the game ends and the player who ran out also takes the rival's remaining stones; the fuller store wins.

Mangala Legend controls

Play by touch, mouse or keyboard: tap a pit and the stones are sown. Keyboard: 1-6 pick a pit, H hint, P pause, R reset the puzzle, Esc back, Enter continue. The Android back button opens the pause menu.

Tips for Mangala Legend

  1. Look for the pit whose stones reach your store exactly: the last stone in the store gives you another turn, and chained turns count as a combo.
  2. Watch rival pits with odd counts: one stone makes them even and yours. Keep your own pits odd when you can.
  3. An empty pit of yours facing a full rival pit is a big capture waiting to happen; close it before your rival sees the same chance.

Seven realms, seventy rivals

The campaign follows the cosmology of Turkic mythology. In the Ötüken Forest the spirits of Umay Ana are gentle and make mistakes, which is where you learn the rules. In the Steppe Camp the six sons of Oghuz Khan and Dede Korkut wait; on the Iron Mountain the smiths of Ergenekon and the grey wolf Börteçine hit hard. On Mount Qaf, Shahmaran and the Phoenix set traps, and in the Frost Realm the patient defenders of Ayaz Ata give nothing away. In Tamu the sons of Erlik Khan play with even-number traps, and in the Sky Realm Ülgen and Kayra Han see eight moves ahead.

Every rival's style is shown before the match so you can plan for it. Search depth rises realm by realm, the error rate falls, and in the last realm rivals no longer slip.

Stars unlock realms and the collection: 1 star for a win, 2 for a ten-stone margin, 3 for twenty. When you lose narrowly the game tells you the margin and offers a one-tap rematch.

Mancala puzzles and the daily charm

The puzzle mode treats mancala like chess problems. Every position is produced by a generator and verified by the game engine, and only positions with a single best answer make it into a pack. The Trial of Umay asks you to capture the most stones in one move or find the move that earns an extra turn; the Trials of Oghuz and the Smith introduce extra-turn chains; the Trials of the Phoenix and Kayra bring two-move calculations and four-turn chains.

Each puzzle takes 30 to 90 seconds, a failed attempt gives concrete feedback such as 'not quite, 5/7', and after two attempts you can watch the solution.

The daily charm is seeded from the date, so it is the same position everywhere in the world, and sharing your result takes one tap. Daily, 7-day and 30-day streak badges are shown on screen. Teachers running brain-game lessons can solve the daily charm together on the classroom board.

Mangala Legend: frequently asked questions

Do I need to install anything to play mancala here?

No. The game runs in the browser and keeps working if the connection drops. The Google Play version needs no account either.

How do I learn the rules?

The first match is a tutorial: sowing is shown in slow motion and wrong taps are explained. The how-to page and the hint button help as well.

Which rules are used?

The standard Turkish Mangala rules taught in school brain-game classes. The single-stone rule, even-number capture and empty-pit capture can be toggled in settings.

Can two people play?

Yes. In Free Play two players take turns on the same device, which also works on a classroom board.

The same puzzle for everyone every day. Solving it extends your streak and you can share the result. Breaking a streak carries no penalty; you simply start again.

Is it suitable for children?

Yes. There are no external links, chat, purchases or gambling-style mechanics, and the rivals are friendly cartoon characters.
